Kibondeni College was the first hospitality training center for women in Kenya. This sector had previously been reserved for men. Graduates of Kibondeni continue to become the most highly demanded and sought-after workers in the tourism industry. This is because of the excellent training provided, which impressed the Kenyan Ministry of Education so much that it adopted the Kibondeni course of studies for its own state institutions.
The young students of Kibondeni have access to a three-tiered training program from which to choose:
-
a year-long course that gives them quick entry into the Food and Hotel Industry and provides a state certification. They receive professional training in the fields of housekeeping, laundry, kitchen and service, which is supplemented by academic subjects such as English, mathematics and computer application;
-
a two- or three-year training for girls with a secondary school degree. They complete in-depth professional training in kitchen, laundry and service. They also learn organization, reception and business management. These graduates receive a state accredited diploma in Restaurant Management.
