500
The project funded by the Codespa foundation, seeks to improve the living conditions of 500 rural women living in poverty in eastern Guatemala through two areas of action:
-
This consists of empowering women with financial knowledge and skills to manage savings and self- financing of their productive activities, and
-
Technical training (TT): This involves the equipping beneficiaries with technical skills at "The Gravileas" training institute, which has collaborated with the Foundation in the implementation of the project.
To achieve its objectives, the Foundation developed two interventions. The first takes 330 women through the Financial Training program. In the second, 170 women take courses in customized Technical Training (3 day intensive programs equivalent to 40 hours of training) in addition to the Financial Training they receive.

The women who are taking part in the project have been divided into groups of 10 to 12, forming a functional unit (FU). These form self-help groups that are intended to cultivate and establish a savings, investment and micro-credit financing culture, therefore fostering self-reliance.
_____________
